This year's league will have 21 weeks of play (weather permitting) beginning April 19th and ending September 20th, which will also be our banquet night. Due to holidays, the Monday League will not play on; 5/31, 9/6. Please keep in mind that there is always a possibility that a last minute golf outing could be booked on one of the scheduled play dates, which in turn, could cancel play that day. The first and last day of play will be scramble events. All the other times will be used for straight golf. Remember, we are here to enjoy ourselves with a little bit of competition thrown in. We will start the competition aspect of league play on the third week. The first week will be the scramble event and the second week will be a practice round to help develop handicaps. For those who are new to the league this year, please provide me with a couple scorecards from last year. These will be used to establish a handicap. For the most part, handicaps will be carried over from last season. Similar to last season, our software program for the league will be programmed not to allow handicaps to increase by more than 2 strokes from one week to another. This will help control individuals who have in the past seen their handicaps fluctuate up and down severely over the season.
• Each tee time foursome will consist of a team. Your team has been given a name representing a famous golf course. The highest two (2) point totals from each team will be added and compared to the other team scores. For each team you score higher, you earn two points, ties earn one point and a loss earns zero points. The lowest two (2) team point totals will be discarded at the end of the season when final points are tabulated. • For individual play, we will have a competition in which each player's point total will be accumulated throughout the year. At the end of the season, the point leaders will be recogninzed as the winners. The lowest two (2) point totals that each player accumulates during the season will be thrown-out when we tabulate results at the end of the season. This will help offset the zero points individuals will receive if they happen to miss a league play date. Make note, you will be entitled to miss 3 dates without being penalized financially. The Stableford System is a scoring method in which golfers earn points based on their scores in relation to par for each hole using thier HDCP. This is a good scoring method for recreational players because there are no negative points - a double bogey or worse is worth zero, but everthing else earns you points. To make sure everyone is on an equal playing field we will be using 80% of everyone's HDCP, which will then be allocated to the appropriate holes base on each holes desigated handicap. If you have not noticed before, each hole has been assigned a HDCP which goes 1-18, with 18 being the easiest hole and 1 being the hardest. So, if you ended up with a 6 HDCP you will receive one stroke for the six hardest handicapped holes for the 9 you are playing. Based on your HDCP, you will be awarded strokes for given holes, those strokes will then be subtracted from your gross score on that hole to give you a Net Score. This net score will be converted to points based on the chart below:
• Proximity contests will be held on selected days. The field will be put into two flights (A&B) for these competitions. These flights will be determined by using handicaps at the beginning of the season. If any adjustments need to be made, this will be done only at the midpoint of the season. You will be informed as to which flight you are in. Players will only be allowed to WIN ONE (1) of the same contest. • A substitution list has been established for those who may not be able to play during a given week. These players have given me permission to use them and to distribute their phone numbers. Feel free to contact them to fill your place if you can not play. • As for substitutes, their scores can help in the team format only if they have established a handicap with us. In order to do so, they can provide me with scores from last season, or establish a handicap while playing as a substitute (they would have to play twice as a substitute before a handicap is established). • Substitutes can not participate in the individual or proximity contests. GUIDELINES Fees 9 hole green fees - $18.00. • As a Monday Night league participant, anytime you play golf during the "Regular Season" period, you will be given a discount on your green fees. This discount will be $4.00 for 18 holes, and $2.00 for 9 holes or twilight. This discount is only for you, not guests. In order for this to take place we are requiring every league member to have their ID picture on file, if not, discount can not be given. Please identify yourself to the pro shop associate as being a league participant when checking in. This will ensure that you receive the appropriate discount. • There will be no make-up rounds. I have taken into consideration scenarios when and if 1 or 2 players do not show in a group on a given day. The team format will require only two net scores out of four; therefore, two players would be the minimum requirement and a team score can be calculated. If a substitute is filling in and has a handicap, well, that is even better because there score may help in the team calculations. • You will be allowed to miss three (3) league rounds before being affected financially, in the individual point standings or both. If by chance you can not play during a given week and you have a substitute show-up to play in your spot, that individual's green fee is considered paid by you (from your pre-payment). You must be reimbursed by that individual who played in your place. You will miss out on earning points, but will not lose your pre-payment fee for that day. If no substitute fills in for you, you will be given a rain credit for $18.00 that can be used toward other golf fees during the season. You may not use this toward future Monday League green fees. ONLY when you "no show" and a substitute is not filling your spot will you be given this rain credit and marked off as a missed occurrence. After three missed dates, your individual point total is affected no matter if you have a substitute or not. After three missed dates with no substitute playing in your place, you will no longer receive a rain credit. • Payment for the final portion of play will be due by June 21st. • If you plan on taking a golf cart, payment must be made in the pro shop before teeing off. A receipt must be presented to the starter. For those who have pre-paid for golf carts, there is no need to go to the golf shop; the starter will have this noted. If you plan on walking, there is no need to check into the golf shop, but you must check in with the starter and make certain he records that you are present. LOCAL RULES • All golf shots hit out-of-bounds (O.B.) are to be viewed and played under the lateral water hazard rule. Drop a ball within two club-lengths from the point the ball last crossed the hazard. Add 1 penalty stroke to your score.
HANDICAPPING • Scores from last year's league will be used to give you a season starting handicap. • For individuals who do not have a handicap, you will need to post two scores before a HDCP is established. If you happen to have scores from last season, you can bring them in and I will use these to establish your HDCP. MISC. TOPICS SCHEDULE OF EVENTS DATE EVENT Proximity
SPEED OF PLAY All groups need to be aware of their position on the golf course. By doing so, we should all be able to finish within a timely manner (2 hours and 15 minutes or better). This will make everyone's round of golf more enjoyable and get in all the players before nighttime settles in. The lead groups are the PACE SETTERS. All groups that follow must keep up with the group in front of them. In order to accomplish this please abide by the following: • No mulligans! Thank you for your help and consideration, Dave |
